Garry Watanabe

Garry Watanabe has personally experienced what it takes to help others succeed in environments where pressure and the need for excellence are equally present.

Garry started out his career as a lawyer and spent five years developing his corporate experience in the competitive world of law. During this time Garry came to realize that his passion for coaching and developing others was overtaking his desire to be a lawyer. This passion drove Garry to leave the legal profession, obtain his Master's Degree in Sport Psychology, and seek out coaching opportunities.

Garry spent the next ten years as a national level coach, first directing programs at Carleton University and then heading to Southern California to coach in the most competitive swimming environment in North America. Looking to combine his business experience with his coaching background he now focuses on applying the principles of coaching, mental fitness, and challenging conversations to a wider range of performers in his work with Performance Coaching. Garry has delivered programs to corporate clients including 3M, TD Bank, Land O'Lakes, and Queen's University to rave reviews. Alongside his corporate clients, Garry continues to work in the sports area, helping coaches and athletes prepare for the upcoming 2008 and 2010 Olympic Games.

Participants in Garry's workshops benefit from his unique combination of experience and excellence. He has a friendly, easygoing manner, a trained analytical mind, and a wealth of practical experience from the world of high performance. Garry's insight, his stories and examples, his practical approach all enable him to connect quickly to the audience and deliver a program that will move participants to action.
